INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS Dear Valued Customer: The Step n Seat® is designed to be installed by a specialty shop or a consumer with normal hand tools and reasonable mechanical ability. Please read the following installation instructions carefully. If you are not fully comfortable with the installation process, consider having the product installed by a body or specialty shop. PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE STARTING INSTALLATION Please observe the following: 1. DO NOT exceed the 400 lb. rated capacity of Step n Seat. 2. DO NOT use Step n Seat when the vehicle is in motion. 3. BE CAREFUL in wet or muddy conditions. 4. We Recommend that you DO NOT remove the handle, its use will enhance the safety and stability of your Step n Seat. Tools You will need these tools: 1. Electric Drill 2. 3/16 inch Metal Drill Bit 3. 2-3/8 inch Open End Wrenches 4. 7/16 inch Socket with Extension and Ratchet 5. Hammer 6. Center Punch We strongly recommend that the exact tools listed above are used. Use of adjustable or inexact sized tools may prevent proper installation. Parts List These parts are included in the parts bag. Please check the bag and make sure that all parts are present. If any parts are missing, please call the customer service number listed on the back page. 6 Metal Anchor Screws 1 Handle 1 Handle Retaining Bolt and Lock Nut 1 Locking Pin with Nut NOTE! Manufacturer suggests occasional lubricating with any light lubricant to the following parts: Half Clips, Hinges and Locking Pin. This will assist in a smoother operation of your Step n Seat. Make sure to wipe off any excess which can cause a slippery surface. Also occasionally check Screws and Locking Pin for tightness. |

| Some installation may require drilling into portions of angled metal.
Installation of the bolts in these areas will be the same as if the drilled holes were in a flat surface. Simply drill the pilot hole and insert the bolt. The bolt will seek the correct angle with the help of its washer head, and will seat properly when tightened down to the mounting slots. Installation Process 1. Position Step n Seat squarely on the tailgate with the registration tabs tight against the tailgate's end. Insert handle in handle cup and insert retaining bolt. Firmly hold the Step n Seat in place while gently shutting the tailgate. Check to see that placement does not interfere with tailgate operation and that the handle comfortably clears the sidewall by at least 1/2 inch. Return tailgate to open position and remove handle. 2. Check to see that Step n Seat is still square on the tailgate with the registration tabs tight against the end of the tailgate. Center punch the 6 holes to be drilled. Drill the 6 holes using a 3/16 inch metal drill bit. Be careful to drill through only the first layer of metal. Insert the 6 screws included and tighten to a snug fit. Do Not over tighten and strip the screws! 3. The process for installation with a tailgate protector is basically the same. However, models vary and you may choose to remove the tailgate protector during initial installation. Simply mark and drill the holes in the protector, then use the center punch to align the holes with the proper drilling points on the tailgate. Drill the tailgate holes and replace the protector. Finish installation as in Step 2. 4. Insert locking pin through the pre-drilled holes on either the right or left side, depending on your application. Right side application the pin will be on the left. Left side the pin will be on the right. Attach and tighten the locking pin and nut using two 3/8 inch wrenches (pull pin into extended position to uncover the flat spots on outside of frame). Insert handle into handle cup, insert retaining bolt and tighten locking nut. |
